Leeds has recently celebrated the exciting launch of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Fitting with Leeds Baby Week and the Year of Reading, the scheme involves free book gifting where enrolled children aged from 0-5 receive a high quality, age appropriate book in the post, free of charge. 39k children in UK benefit from the incentive & the first book they receive is the Tale of Peter Rabbit (especially chosen by Dolly).
The event began with Dolly renditions from Leeds City College and speeches from Phil Mellen, Cllr Venner and Helen Hastle from the Imagination Library. Looked after children and their families had a fun day of entertainment with face painting, craft activities and an adaptation of ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ by the Rainbow Factory!
