'Sharing Books and Stories with Babies and Young Children' and the pre-launch of Leeds Library Bus!

On the 8th January was the brilliant 'Sharing Books and Stories with Babies and Young Children' event at Leeds Central Library. It was a day packed with stimulating workshops that explored the benefits of storytelling and reading with young children. Workshops included a lunchtime lecture with Dr. Cat Davies from the University of Leeds and a story surgery which demonstrated participatory exercises on how to develop confidence and skills in storytelling.

Staff left the sessions with new ideas on how to promote literacy and confidence with families that they work with, as well as lots of free BookTrust packs to give away!

Attendees also had the opportunity to learn about the new Story Bus which will be launching on 30th January at Hunslet Library Community Hub and Library from 12:00 – 14:00 pm. This is a brand new city wide Story Bus service for babies and children aged 0-5 and their families. Author and Illustrator Nick Sharratt, whose illustrations feature on the new vehicles will also be joining for the launch.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to leeds.libraries@leeds.gov.uk
