This full day course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of statutory roles and responsibilities for teachers new to Year 2 (including NQTs). The day will explore effective classroom practice in core subjects as well as formative and summative assessment.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a repeat of the New to Year 2 course (011-1019-T020) on 9th September 2019 which is now full.
Given the particular requirements of statutory assessment and reporting at the end of key stage 1, this course is designed to support and develop the classroom practice of teachers new to the year group. During the full day session, colleagues will have the opportunity to explore their practice in core subjects with input from a range of specialist consultants.
This session will:
- support teachers new to Year 2 with meaningful ongoing assessment
- cover effective classroom practice in reading, writing and mathematics
- share useful resources and guidance to support assessing and reporting at the end of key stage 1
- respond to questions and concerns
