The key stage 1 training sessions have been devised to specifically support all Year 2 teachers with the statutory requirements for 2019-20. The format of this year’s training has been split into two distinct half day sessions. This series of sessions will focus on key aspects of teaching and assessing of reading, writing and mathematics in Year 2. A separate series of sessions later in the year will cover the statutory assessment requirements at the end of key stage 1. This format will allow teachers the option of attending one or both sessions.
This session will provide key guidance and practical strategies for teaching and learning in both reading and writing in literacy and also in mathematics in order to support on-going assessment. It will complement the additional assessment sessions to take place in the spring term.
The session will provide:
- practical classroom strategies to support the development of reading, writing and mathematics
- support when identifying and addressing gaps in learning
- opportunities to discuss and embed effective in-school moderation
- network opportunities and time to respond to questions and concerns
