The SENCO networks are collaboration between school based practitioners (SENCOs) and local authority officers within the area. A high value is placed on the skills and expertise, and the opportunities to share good practice that practitioners can bring. The networks will be supported by a named administrative officer who will ensure the smooth running of the networks (venues, agendas, minutes, membership lists etc)
The lead SEN Officer and Lead SENCO will:
Work effectively as a team to jointly lead, drive and facilitate the local AIP cross phase SENCO network and ensure a focus on SEN; closing the gap; sharing best practice and building capacity
The Lead SENCO will be a contact point for SENCOs within the AIP and steer to ensure sector led development of the local SENCO network
The Lead SEN Officer will provide information at the local and national level and be a contact point for liaison with children’s services officers.
The networks take place twice a year within each Area Inclusion Partnership area feeding into an annual SEN conference.
SLA members are invited to send one SENCO to each of the two networks free of charge. If you are unable to attend your local network you are welcome to book onto a network in another area.
